"In the late 1970's Werner Herzog vowed to fellow filmmaker Erroll Morris that he would eat his shoe, were Morris to finish his film Gates of heaven.And so it happened. The shoe was cooked for 5 hours in a stock with garlic and herbs. The recently deceased Les Blank made a short documentary about this testimonial of Herzog's dedication."
